Browser Apps
You might think that apps are just for your mobile phones and devices or in services such as Facebook and Twitter, but there are now what is called “Browser apps”.
If you’re using a Google Chrome browser, you have surely seen these apps when you open a new browser on Chrome. Clicking on the Web Store icon, you are taken to the Chrome Web Store at https://chrome.google.com/webstore where you could various apps for you to install.
These browser based apps does not require you to install anything on your computer, so you could start using them when you need to. This also means that you could use these apps just as long as you have a computer with an Internet connection.
As such, browser-based apps provide a good alternative to traditional software you use.
Indeed, there are browser based apps for just about anything. Just like your smartphone apps, there are apps that can keep you entertained, help you do your office work, play games, play video and music, enhance your productivity, communicate on social networking sites and get you up-to-date on what’s happening around the world, among other things.
What These Apps Signify
With the advent of cloud technology, it seems that the future of computing is veering away from installed software and into the cloud.
Think of apps as a more flexible and lighter alternative to the software that is installed on your desktop computer.
Tablets and smartphones may soon have the same computer power as your desktop computer, so all you need is to fire app these browser apps and get to work.
Similarly, Google has launched the Chromebook. The Chromebook uses the Chrome browser and its apps to work. The result: no software installation required and no expensive software to take care of. The result: a faster computing experience without the attendant cost.
The future is in these apps. Not only are they functional, they are also cost-effective to create and distribute.
