Green Day Makes Other Bands Go Green

Have you heard from the grapevine yet? No? Green Day….yes, the band, recently launched their new album, 21st Century Breakdown, and this time, it has taken on a little twist. Something that we, at www.beqrious.com, would sit up and take notice. Guess.

Yup. Green Day is promoting their music and albums though QR Codes now. Being a fan of the band, the exhilaration of seeing this awesome band embrace the all-too-new-to-Americans method of viral mobile marketing is really delightful. Starting from May 1st, the rock band will be running a very impressive and extensive marketing campaign for the new album in hope of breaking charts and bringing in cash. Throughout the streets and on pages of magazines, try looking out for a poster or promotion piece of their new album; then try scanning the QR Code with your mobile phone. It would take you to their VERY EXCLUSIVE mobile-friendly web page where you can listen to music, watch videos, share information, communicate with other fans or download files to your mobile phone.

Mostly, we heard, the advertisements containing the QR Code is plastered over posters, stickers and on buses. While they said they consider this mobile marketing campaign using QR Code is purely experimental and they’re not really going to count on the QR Code alone to promote the sales of their albums, it’s a good sign that Americans are more accepting of this technology and are taking long, serious looks at how it would work in the future.

As experimental as it may mean to them, it also means that they are embracing the power of the technology to see if it could boost the ailing sales of the whole music and entertainment industry right now. Let’s admit it, cost of advertisement is rising, options running low, bands need money to keep going and yet, the demand remains high. There’s got to be an even ground here…perhaps, this is one of the ways that musicians can promote their work faster and cheaper.

If you went into their mobile-friend web page, you’ll find their recent released, Know Your Enemy. It’s a remarkable song from them. Once fans who are willing to try out the QR Codes scan the code into their phone and get their hands on all those exclusive stuff through their mobile phone, they will soon see how convenient and amazing this whole QR Code technology actually is.
