How to Create Effective Call to Action Buttons

In an earlier installment, BeQRious has discussed the importance of call to action pages and how you could come up with a great call to action page.

Perhaps the easiest way you could have an effective call to action page is to use a call to action button. Here is how you could come up with a great call to action button:

 

1. Make it big and colorful.

It is imperative that you make your buttons noticeable, and this is easily achieved by making your buttons very large and colorful. Just make sure you use colors that evoke the right emotional response.

Also, balance your colors and the size. Small buttons need prominent colors, while bigger buttons should use less prominent colors.

2. Be clear on what you want them to do.

Use clear and direct language for your button. Also, instead of saying “add to cart,” you can tell them exactly what they can get such as “Get your subscription.” Call to action buttons often use a word or a phrase to tell your customers just what exactly you want them to do.

3. Prioritize your calls to action.

While it is ideal to just tell your customers one thing that you want them to do, there are times when you need to offer them an alternative. In this case, you should make sure that you prioritize your call to action buttons and make the more important ones stand out.

For example, if you think that a video would help you sell more, then make it more prominent on your call to action page, while also not forgetting to tell your visitors to sign up!

4. Make your call to action button change in color.

While using animation is frowned upon in call to action buttons, you can still make your button interactive and make it come alive with color. Using the hover effect, make your button change colors when the mouse goes over it. This way, it will be easier for your customers to identify your call to action buttons!
