QR Code Wristbands: A New Way to Exchange Information
Many years ago, exchanging information would have been a rather difficult task as we would either have to rummage through our bags for a paper and a pen that we could use to write the number down, or simply memorize the digits. Fast forward to a few years ago and it became much easier with mobile phones. All we needed to do then was scoop out our cellphones from our pockets, type our new-found friend’s name in our phonebook, let him input his number, and then give him a ring so he would know our number too. But let’s admit it, the process is quite a hassle as it involves a few steps.
Now, exchange of information will become as quick and easy as 1-2-3 with the invention of QR code wristbands!
A new company called Skanz has launched a new gadget at the Consumer Electronics Week conference in New York City that will allow users to share contact details and even digital information like Twitter usernames and Facebook pages with just a quick flash of a smartphone. The QR code can also lead to one’s blog sites, favorite links, videos, and photos.
These personal information will be stored in the company’s website – Skanz.com. Users can access the site, create or design their personal scan page (called a Scanzsite), and add any information or detail they want to share with other people. A QR code will be generated, and an image of this code will then be put on a wristband. As Scanz puts it, the QR code wristband will house your entire virtual life.
All that’s needed is for the other person to get a quick scan of the QR code image using his smartphone’s camera and reader application, and voila! he will be directed to the user’s personal Scanzsite. Without even typing anything, your new friend will be able to call you, send you an e-mail, chat with you, follow you on Twitter, and become your Facebook contact.
Skanz is positive that this new gadget will become a hit among college students and young people, especially with a tagline “Wear the Web. Share Your World.” The multi-colored Scanz bands are also expected to become a fashion trend. Aside from the wristbands, you can also have your QR codes on your phone case, called the Scanz phone case.
The QR code wristband will no doubt revolutionize the way people exchange contact information. With this gadget, networking, exchanging phone numbers and e-mail addresses, and getting in touch with new acquaintances will never be as hard as they used to be.
