QR Codes Hide Porn in Hotel Room

qrcodehotel

Imagine being surrounded by QR codes everywhere you look. At the Modez Hotel, you can even book a QR coded hotel room that is actually more than what meets the eye.

The Modez Hotel is located in Arnhem in the eastern part of the Netherlands. They have 30 rooms that were designed by different artists or designers. And Antoine Peters was the genius behind the QR code room.

The room’s walls are completely covered with QR codes, and even the curtains have QR codes on it. The bed sheet is a giant QR code complemented by two square pillows. Even the ottomans have a QR code on them.

It is all quite innocent if you just take a look at it. The whole room looks like an abstract work of art woven together by QR codes. QR codes in this room are done in black and white and do not really form any images. Without a smartphone in hand, you will see it as just a wallpaper with a crazy pattern.

However, try scanning one QR code and you would realize that it is not really as innocent at it seems.

That is because behind each QR code, there is saucy and racy content for you to enjoy. The QR code serves up pornographic materials, sexy photos, racy texts, titillating videos and other similar stuff when scanned.

Peters wanted to show that two worlds could exist in just one space: the abstract world represented by QR codes and the reality, which is represented by the racy materials behind the codes. Peters even says that we are surrounded by porn nowadays.

For us, we are no longer surprised. We have seen QR codes practically everywhere. We have even seen QR coded buildings and QR coded hotels, not just hotel rooms. But what makes this new QR code hotel room is not so much the fact that it uses QR codes, but the content it resolves to. Granted that the Netherlands is one of the most liberal countries on earth, we are worried that these QR codes will be scanned by minors.
