QRious About The Art Cars
Houston is a big state…but it is also where people dream big, think big, act big and….for very good reasons too. One of those BIG dreams is the annual car parade that they lovingly call the Art Cars Parade. The parade is an extremely fun annual event, not only for the kids, but for the grown-ups as well. Well, to come up with the intriguing designs, we are pretty sure they would have needed some rocket scientists on their teams.
The art cars are always a scream.
However, what is different about this year’s Art Cars Parade is that the organizers have decided to include a QR Code with each art car. So, instead of spending your time merely scanning the cars out with your eye, when a QR Code is spotted, grab your phone and start scanning the QR Code on the car to learn more about the cars. The QR Codes are basically the same ones used by airlines as boarding passes. With the Art Cars Parade, it’s a little different because it leads users to online information about the car, how it was made, who made it and all other information about the prepped-up vehicles.
When participants register for the event, they are given QR Code which stands for ‘quick response’ code. In this instance, the QR Code acts as a link to online content. However, you will need a smart phone or an android phone to scan the QR Code. Normal phones are not equipped with the technology.
All in all, the additional QR Code gives users a more complete experience and helps them learn more about what went on behind the car and how it came about – including the concept. It helps the people of the Orange county show can get behind the scene instead of just enjoying the arts cars as they roll out the garage.
For more information about the Art Car Parade, head on over to this website http://www.culturemap.com/artcar. In the website, you’ll find schedule, maps, routes and a little information about the art cars participating in the parade.
In previous shows, the parade was basically a very ‘down to earth’ and low-tech experience so, it’s pretty neat to see that Culture Map actually went ahead to implement the plan to include QR Codes for this year’s parade.
However, the organizers hoped that the people had more fun viewing the art cars as they screamed, sang and hollered away in front of them instead of having their eyes glued to their phones – which, defeats the purpose of having an Art Cars Parade, anyway.
Were you one of those who went for the Art Cars Parade? Go ahead and share your experience and opinion with our readers.
