Calling it the QR Fit Trail service, County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price explains that people can scan the QR codes, which are scattered at different parts of the trails, and get videos featuring certified fitness instructors teaching you different exercises geared towards increasing your body’s flexibility, as well as working out your lower body, upper body and core. If you walk around the trails regularly, do not worry about getting the same videos again and again, these videos are refreshed every month.
What is nice about these videos is that the exercises are doable by just about everybody, regardless of their fitness levels. You also do not need any equipment to do the exercises.
Therefore, you might be walking or power walking along a fitness trail and see the QR Fitness signs. Just get your smartphone out and scan the QR codes for an easy way to get more fit.
The QR Fit Trail service is available at the following locations:
- 4S Ranch Sports Park,
- Guajome Regional County Park near Oceanside,
- Hilton Head County Park in El Cajon, and
- Sweetwater Regional County Park in Bonita.
This is a different way of using QR codes in parks. BeQRious has reported earlier that park administrators in Washington, MO, are looking for ways to use QR codes. One of their planned campaigns involves providing more information to park visitors about the different attractions inside the park, as well as providing other multimedia content. In addition, because the roll out is not until 2014, the administrators are looking out for more suggestions.
Further, QR codes are also helping lost hikers find their way in four Connecticut parks, where scanning a QR code gives them access to trail maps and more information about these trails.
