Snap My Belt, Please
It’s been more than just quick response as far as the fashion industry and QR Codes are concerned – the fashion industry have been nothing but speedy in catching up with the fad. This was a surprise to many people because that’s probably one of the last things we would think of. In Japan, maybe. However, when you sit down and think about it, it makes sense because of how we want the QR Code to be accessible to everyone you meet. What better way to promote something with QR Code than to wear it or have it tattooed to your body? Although the latter is hardly advisable considering the fact that things change and tattoos are too permanent.
The Europeans are one of the first few people who caught onto the technology outside of Japan or Asia. Austrian companies have been exploring ways to monetize QR Codes, and come up with new ways people can make full use of it. Recently, I bumped into another news article about how the QR Code technology infiltrated the fashion industry. Not only will QR Codes be made available on t-shirts, shirts, blouses and pants, but they’ll also be placing QR Codes on accessories as well….like belts.
The company behind this new craze is Fluid Forms, a company producing, designing and distributing custom-made fashion items. In a lot of ways, there’s a similarity we can draw between Fluid Forms and Shapeways.
But one thing bothers me about wearing a belt with QR Code design on it….it would be utterly shameless and improper (to others) to point to your own nether regions and ask someone to snap a picture of it.
All in the name of fashion, I guess.
