Target Puts QR Codes on Top Toys for the Season to Make Gift Shopping Easier

target

If you cannot get a babysitter for your kids and you really need to shop for their Christmas gifts, then take them along and head on to Target.

Target will be putting up QR codes for the top 20 toys that they have for this holiday shopping season. Not only will this help clueless parents know what toys are big this year but it will also help them buy these conveniently. With just a scan of the QR codes, they can purchase the toy and have it delivered anywhere in the country.

What’s more, if you have Junior in tow, you can shop for his gift without him knowing about it.

You would need to install Target’s own mobile app to avail of the service.

The QR codes would start appearing on October 14. The Top 20 Toy List includes those from some of the best toymakers such as Mattel, Hasbro, Lego, and LeapFrog. So basically, most of the toys that you will want to buy this year are included in the list and would have a QR code to make the purchase more convenient and secretive.

Target has long been using mobile apps and QR codes as part of its promotions. They have used QR code coupons before and have even experimented with mobile gift giving.

Great Move by Target

With all the mishaps and blunders made by retailers using QR codes for their marketing, Target’s QR code move is a breath of fresh air. The retailer clearly made sure to understand the needs of its target market: parents who might be pressed for time to complete their holiday shopping. They found a problem and a need and came up with a solution for it.

QR codes present a good way to streamline the process and ensure that the element of surprise is not spoiled.

We wish that there would be more retailers who do their homework first before implementing their QR code campaigns.

QR code is a great invention people made. I’m making mobile apps currently and find it really cool to implement QR codes into them. I’m amazed at QR code coupons Snappii app builder allows to create. They are really helpful for small businesses.
