Tips on How To Take More Awesome Pictures of Fireworks

fireworks

With 4th of July behind us, we are sure most of you must have a memory load of pictures of the fireworks that went on all over the country. Apart from Disneyland’s daily jaw-dropping fireworks display, I dare say that only the 4th of July fireworks can rival the awesomeness of Disney’s fireworks.

Unsurprisingly, many people are turning their phones on to take pictures instead of using their conventional digital cameras or setting up the DSLRs. And that is because mobile phone cameras are so powerful these days coupled with the fact that we have apps for everything these days. Even if you take a terrible shot, you can always improve or change or edit it or Instagram it into something else more breathtaking later on. So, with a mobile phone camera, there is hardly ever a bad photo.

Anyway, just in case you missed the chance to take great pictures of the fireworks, here are a couple of tips on how to better use your phone’s camera for better fireworks pictures in the future.

Basic – make your body a tripod
Instead of lugging around heavy tripods and cameras, remember to keep your body steady and stable….just like a tripod. Spread your legs to keep your balance when you are ready to snap the shot. Better yet if you can find something to lean on…like a car, a wall or a friend, lean on it/them.

No flashing
To take good pictures of fireworks, you need the flash to be off. With a conventional phone’s camera, the flash is usually set to automatically go off when it detects that the lighting isn’t at its optimal level. For most phones, you need to manually turn it off.

Loads of memory
The fireworks display is going to be going for some time, so, there is loads of pictures to be taken. Offload the phone’s memory and give yourself loads of space to take some really good pictures.

Using some apps to improve pictures
One of the apps that many photography enthusiasts like to use who are not using DSLR camera is the Slow Shutter Cam. The Slow Shutter Cam app is available for iOS only but there is alternative for people using Android and it comes in the form of Fast Burst Camera Lite. The lite version is, of course, free of charge. For better control and optimization of the camera, all you need to pay is $3.37 for the more professional version.

Take it outside of Instagram
Instead of loading the pictures up instantly on Instagram and uploading it direct, we strongly suggest that you take the pictures FIRST and THEN load it up into Instagram. This is to avoid risking Instagram clashing with all the other apps that you are using for the picture-taking adventure.

Hope you had fun taking the fireworks picture and you had a load of fun with your family and friends this 4th of July celebration.
