Two Ways to Use QR Codes with Coupons

Marketing professionals have always been using a mix of different methods to help them promote and sell their products. QR codes have been one of those tools that are being increasingly used by marketers.

If you are looking to use coupons with QR codes, here are two ways to do just that:

1. Coupons and Discount for Data Gathering

If your main purpose is to get more information about your target market, you might want to use a coupon or a discount voucher with a QR code. For example, you can include a QR code in your flyer that says, “Scan this QR code for a 50% discount.” Each of your flyers will have a randomly generated number. People who want to avail of these discounts would need to fill out a form asking for their name, contact details and e-mail address. At the end of the form, they would be asked to enter the random number and that will add them to the database you have.

2. Using QR Codes to Dispense Coupons

Or it could be the other way around. You could use QR codes to help your customers get the discounts they are looking for. Instead of asking them to activate their coupons, you would ask them to scan the QR code to get the coupon. All they have to do to redeem the coupon is to present the image on their smartphones.

This is a much easier way to do QR code coupon campaigns, as you do not really have to have a database to work with. What’s more, you would need to print out a lesser number of posters and flyers. In fact, you could just print one poster and hang it inside your store.

Also, Borrell Associates have found in one study that mobile coupons are 10 times more likely to be redeemed than traditional coupons. This means that it is not only easier for you, but this method actually gives you a greater chance of success.
