Vizibility Study Shows High Adoption of QR Codes Among Legal Professionals

Vizibility, Inc., an online identity management platform service provider that caters to businesses and individuals, has come up with a recent study on the use of QR codes by law firms.

The two-month study involved lawyers and marketing professionals working at the country’s top law firms, with some being members of the Legal Marketing Association.

The results are very encouraging. Vizibility found that 85% of respondents are aware of what QR codes are and more than a third (about 35%) said that they have used these codes. Close to half (about 45%) related that they wanted to begin using QR codes in the next 12 months.

A majority of the respondents also indicated that they plan to use these codes to market their lawyers. Out of this number, more than half said that they will use QR codes to point to a lawyer’s contact details and bio. Another 13% said that they will point people to the law firm’s main website.

Around 47% reported that they will place the QR codes on business cards, while 51% said that these QR codes will be perfect for their brochures, posters and other marketing materials.

What about mobile optimized sites? Around 94% of the respondents indicated that it was vital for the QR codes to resolve to a mobile optimized website. But even with this knowledge, only 12% said that they have a mobile-friendly site.

The study clearly shows that QR codes have been enjoying widespread adoption and awareness among the top law firms, lawyers and legal marketers. So it is not just retailers such as Victoria’s Secret and Kmart that are benefitting from using QR codes, but also professionals and service providers.

This also attests to the power of QR codes to promote personal branding. Most legal marketers know how important it is for their lawyers to be known to adhere to certain values and characteristics. Personal branding works to a legal professional’s advantage and that may be helped by QR codes. Not only that, with QR codes leading to selected online profiles or attorney bios, you can actually control the information that your prospective clients can see about you.
